9 Simple Ways to Gain Awareness and Initiate Change

To make any form of positive change in your life you have to first gain awareness.

Many people search for awareness and sometimes find it. But very few take the awareness they develop and put it into action. When you put the awareness into action, this is when you develop the wisdom that creates the change.

It’s easier said than done, I know. After you’ve been stuck in a particular way of living, it’s hard to imagine any other way. Many are aware of the changes they need to make but choose to stay in the comfort that makes them miserable.

Here are several things I try and work on daily. I’m not perfect with it, but I’m working on progress as I go through life.

  • Respond vs. React: This is very hard but very rewarding. If a conversation or event triggers a reaction, stop! It’s challenging to do and be aware of at the same time. A discussion will be more productive if you can learn to pause and think about where your reaction is coming from before you respond.
  • Projection: If you can catch what flaws you project onto others, you are halfway there. It is easy to see every flaw in someone else you need to change in yourself. If you pay careful attention, you will notice others projecting and never take…
