At What Point do You Stop Trying to Help a Person With an a Addiction?
You’re help has become enabling. It’s time to stop.
You don’t help a person with an addiction. If you are spending hours, days, weeks, months, maybe years trying to help someone that clearly doesn’t want help, it says more about you. and not them.
I know it’s easier said than done
But if the person doesn’t want help, nothing you say or do is going to change anything. It will just exhaust you to the point of resentment and misery.
You, are in return, becoming their addiction they are trying to escape.
Addicts don’t need help. They need a full on front assault of truth.
Block the mother fucker out of your life. Give them ultimatums with CONSEQUENCES. And stick to the consequences. I’ve been enabled my whole fucking life, hence while it’s taken me 50 fucking years to even “sniff” change.
You should never try to help an addict, your “trying” is helping them stay fucked up. Support an addict on their path, don’t “help.”
You give tough love, but love none the less. If they have no desire to seek a better life, it’s none of your fucking business, nor should it be your priority to push something on…
