Cincinnati, Ohio, Was Home to One of The Most Prolific Serial Killers in U.S. History
There was a few, but he was by far the most well known.
When one thinks of Cincinnati, one might think of the Cincinnati Reds, where baseball began in 1869. Or possibly the newly redefined Cincinnati Bengals.
If you are local, you know Cincinnati is known for its chili and coneys and one of the states oldest operational market, Findlay Market.
One thing you wouldn’t think Cincinnati would be known for is one of the most prolific and evil serial killers in history.
Do you know who he is?
Charles Manson
When I was studying Criminal Justice and Psychology in college, my professor mentioned this in one of his lectures. I thought, “No way! Charles Manson grew up in my neighborhood?”
Indeed he did.
Charles Milles Manson was born to a 16-year-old runaway, Kathleen Maddox, on November 12, 1934. Charles was first named “No Name Maddox” at an area Cincinnati hospital. His father, Colonel Walker Henderson Scott Sr, was in the army and stationed nearby. Once Walker found out he would be a father, he fled the area, never to return. It’s said Charles never met his biological mother.
