Follow These Self-Help Techniques to Help Cope With Mild Depression
A few simple actions can make a big difference if you find yourself suffering from depression.
We all have bouts of depression at times in our life. Some are more severe cases than others. I found myself falling into depression after an abusive relationship that brought a lot of childhood trauma to the surface I had never dealt with.
In working through the abuse, anger is part of the process, and oh boy, do I have anger. And I am quickly learning untreated anger can lead to depression and other physical symptoms.
Here are a few techniques I am using to help me through the depression phase as I work on myself.
- Exercise. You have to be consistent with it. The movement will help many things, and depression is one of them. I’m going to tie this in with hiking and traveling too. Not your typical travel and escape. Create a trip doing something you have never experienced.
- No alcohol. It’s a depressant, but when it wears off, you are exactly where you left off but in the worst spot. It’s the devil’s poison when abused. And unless you can keep it to 1 to 2 drinks a day, there is no benefit in drinking. And in reality, many more studies are coming up that show no amount of…
