Grammarly and “AI” Are Slowly Redefining The Writing World

Oh, Grammarly, when I first found you, I thought you were my one. I believed you would take me to the promised land of the English language I’ve struggled with most of my life.

Yes, English is my native language, but spelling, punctuation, passive voice, squinting modifier, prepositions, synonyms, I mean, what the fuck is a squinting modifier!?! Sorry, back on topic. I honestly thought I found my bread and butter to sharpen my writing skills when you popped into my life.

Other platforms.

Over at Quora, no one cared if commas were incorrect; I had a couple of run-ons, talked in passive or active voice, ended a sentence with “of,” and used squinting modifiers often, and no one said shit! I could use slang words too! It’s obvious you like a well-spoken gent.

It is so easy to write on Quora. I may look like an uneducated white boy from Kentucky, but at least I felt genuine in my writing. I don’t like how you change my writing to make me sound AI’ish, you know, like a robot?

I cringe as I am writing. I subconsciously make corrections in my mind that you would make that I usually…
