I know, I know. What a mean thing to say, right? If I don’t like driving “gig” work, choose something else! Well, I get ya, kind of; I do like it. Actually, I love the flexibility and income you can make from Uber, Lyft, and Doordash.

I drive all three here in Cincinnati. I have been with Uber and Lyft for ten years, so I know the ends and outs of the business. I only drive Doordash when rideshare is extremely slow, or they have a good promotion.

The pros and cons of a driver

It’s a great part-time job to supplement your income. If you have a seasonal job or want to save a bit for a family vacation, this is the perfect gig for you. Put the kids to bed, kick the app on, and have at it. Or, get up before work, turn the apps on, and take a trip headed towards your “day” job and make a few extra bucks in the process.

The income can be great if you have a system; if you don’t, you will be chasing $4-$8hr at best after expenses. Yes, cars don’t operate for free.
