If A Narcissist Never Fell in Love With You, What Did They Love?
Their definition of love is significantly different from the norm.
They don’t fall in love with you, although it feels like they do. And the sad fact is, they really think you are the “one” and are madly in love with you. And in the beginning, you will think you are the “one” too.
What they fall in love with is how you make them feel about themselves. They can’t regulate their own emotions, although they may claim to love themselves and their life and speak about how great a person they are. They are in constant chase mode to take the pain away from their faults and flaws.
They never love anyone. This is why they jump from one person to the next so quickly. When the same old song and dance present themselves, they will go to the new dance while keeping the old song, you, playing lightly in the background. They keep the old song playing as long as you let it, just in case the new dance isn’t what they thought, and it never is.
While you are fluffing their feathers they are mirroring what “quality traits” they learned from partners in past relationships, on to you. You stumble and fall right into the plan. You believe you have just found the person you have been searching for your whole life.
