Is The Experience of Aging Anything Like You Imagined?
Actually, it’s not, but my imagination is a little different than others.
To be honest, I never really thought about it. At 46 years old, I can still do pretty much what I was doing 20 years ago. I remember a time I was on my first trip to Vegas. I was sitting with a guy that was in his early thirties playing blackjack. I had just turned 22. He was drunk and in swim trunks depressed because he’d just cheated on his fiancé, and they were to get married that weekend. For some reason, to this day, I remember looking at him and thinking he was too old to be pulling that kind of shit. But really, that’s the only time I can remember thinking about age in my 20's.
I never think much about my age. I can still hike, run, snowboard, skateboard, mountain bike, workout, keep up with my 15,17- and 20-year-old nephews, and many other things. My nephews joke around with me and call me “old man,” but I can still beat them in a 40-yard dash, a game of horse on the basketball court, or a good ole arm-wrestling match. lol I believe you are only as old as you feel.
With age, you learn to value the things you never thought about 20 years ago.
