One Major Issue Most Narcissist Abuse Victims Struggle to Understand
Finding someone that understands the abuse is vital in the recovery process.
That’s the biggest issue with Narcissist abuse. It’s a silent abuse where the victim, for the most part, suffers alone. They also carry a lot of shame and blame for allowing this relationship to go on for this long.
If you try and talk to someone who hasn’t experienced this type of abuse, you are wasting your time. They will think you’re flat-out crazy to stay in something you describe as you do.
Any form of validation of the abuse is critical for the victim. And the validation you will crave comes in small to no doses of relief. And it also doesn’t help you’re confused as fuck, and you feel like no one understands. You might have a friend or family member who tries to understand, but you slowly run them off too. So you are left replaying every issue in the relationship over and over again in your mind. This, my friend, will drive you to the brink of insanity.
You need to research it enough to know what you are dealing with. Write it out. Then read it every time you doubt yourself. Get on message boards and connect with a few on there. Be careful, they breed predators too on these boards, but there are good people there. But look for similarities in your stories and not differences. It will slowly start making sense.
And finally, fuck the validation of others. The only validation you need is yours. You are living it and know you need to escape. Work on the escape part, and the rest will work itself out.
