There’s a huge difference between friends and acquaintances.

I have two, what I would call “great” friends. Meaning, if I needed something, or they did we would be there for one another in any way we could.

Their character and morals mimic mine in a sense, and vice versa.

I have several acquaintances, and they are just that, I see them on occasions. Our morals, and character may align to a degree, but I don’t know them well enough to develop a friendship.

I do believe it’s true. you are the sum of the five closest people you surround yourself with. But that “sum” might be your reactions, and the behaviors you portray while around them.

For instance; My ex was a lying, manipulative, cheating alcoholic. You didn’t have to look far to find me picking up on some of those traits.

I began lying to friends, and family, drinking heavily, and was becoming quite manipulative with people so I could keep her in my life. All while lying to myself. It was fucking sick.
