I know I don’t. I mean, I do, but I don’t. I keep repeating the same past behavior that is comfortable to me that keeps me stuck. If it sounds exhausting, it is.

Every day I wake up and promise myself things will be different today, but the devil jumps on my shoulder to take me down that same road of miserable comfort I have been on for years.

With all this discomfort hasn’t come without lessons. Sometimes we have to revisit past lessons to remember what we didn’t learn the first go-round.

So, as I began to ponder the past, you know, “overthinking?” I thought of 5 things that I think I learned, or at least what I have become aware of in the past year.

  • Your thoughts will terrorize you more than any human.
  • The unhealthiest relationships aren’t with other people.
  • What you are trying to change in your partner is a personal issue. It has nothing to do with them. The only person you can change is yourself.
  • You can be in a completely different place next year mentally, physically, financially, and emotionally if you sit in the uncomfortable and allow change to happen.
  • Fear sells. There is no shortage of people willing to do what they are told with little to no research of their own.

Can you relate to any of the five lessons above?

If you can, please let me know. If not, what lessons have you carried over into the new year to not repeat?
