What Does a “True” Narcissist Look Like From Within?
It’s not how the world portrays them. Their insecurities run deep.
They are as scared and damaged as the people they abuse. They have as much childhood trauma as some of the victims they abuse. The difference is they developed a coping mechanism of abusing, while their victims took on the “fixer” role.
The whole situation is sad. They want nothing more than to be loved, but they go about it all wrong. They destroy those that would love them like they have never been loved, but they punish them for loving them. They don’t feel worthy of it.
They run around trying to gain attention from people, places and things that don’t matter. It’s a very shallow existence if if you can step back and look at it. It’;s tough to do because they do so much damage the victim loses what little sanity they had left after dealing with them.
The sad reality is, most victims stay with them for the potential that will never surface. They are a 6 year old trapped in adult body looking for the attention and love they never got as a kid. Most were neglected and left to compete for attention from their (narcissistic) parent. Attention that should come naturally. They were judged from day one on not being good enough, so they spend a life trying to prove they are.
