What Makes a Person Finally Show Their “Authentic Self,” Flaws and All?

At first I’d say it has a lot to do with defeat. It’s almost a cry for help, especially if done with strangers.

They’ve tried everything for a bit of relief, and nothing has worked.

The human mind can be a cruel place for many, which they never escape. And by the time they realize there is an escape route, it’s too late. The damage has been done.

The meaningless, subconscious search for their true self wasn’t the plan. They kind of stumbled into it by chance, or possibly fate. But some how it happened.

And not by choice.

They begin to share the pain, confusion and hopelessness of their painful lessons about a journey they didn’t even know they were traveling, but can’t seem to learn from either.

The more they share, the more they realize how validation and approval is something most use for unhealthy reasons, mostly insecure nuances they can’t give themselves, at least just yet.

So they continue their journey one “fuck up” at a time. No one wants to hear the truth. The truth is painful in all aspects of life.
