When Has The Wrong Person Taught You The Right Lesson in Life?

Someone’s actions will tell you everything you need to know about them.

On November 11th, 2017, I met someone. This person portrayed an image of awareness, love, humor, adventure, spontaneity, and allure. This person was the total package — the type of person you see in cheesy romantic comedies on Netflix.

They said they divorced the same year as me and were working on spirituality as well as self-awareness. They said they taught Yoga and would do some private lessons with me or go to a studio.

Three months later, everything changed. The person I thought I knew I didn’t know at all. The excitement of seeing this person turned into extreme anxiety of “what if’s.” I began to question my reality and sanity. I didn’t know what to believe at that point. They always had a reason or an excuse for all the fucked up shit happening. One lie was a cover for the previous, and the string of lies was endless.

When I would snap after all the manipulation, my guilt would consume me, and I’d pull them back in and try and understand. They seemed so vulnerable but could be so evil at the same time. My reactions to their abuse were eventually were used against me. I was called abusive, narcissistic, borderline, bipolar, as well as many other things. I tried to understand them, but…
